FAQs
Will I receive a certificate of completion at the end of this course?
Yes, a certificate will be sent via email after completion of the course series.
Will there be in-person classes I can attend?
Eventually, when a location is determined.
Will you contact me after the course is completed?
Yes, you will receive an email follow-up 30 days after completing the course to see how your baby is responding to infant massage and if you have further questions.
How young and/or old can my infant start receiving infant massage?
Great question, infants as young as 6 weeks can benefit from infant massage and up to a year but as infants grow there are ways to incorporate the skills you have learned in this course as children develop even into their teen years. This will be discussed more in depth as gentle movements in the course.
Will there be a print out of the strokes you teach in the course that I can refer to?
Yes, this will be a FREE document I will send out specific to each session.
Do you offer 1:1 sessions after the course is completed.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Do you accept insurance?
No.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes! Find out more here.
Do you have any advice for moms with NICU grads or special needs babies?
Yes, I would always refer you to your child pediatrician, OT and PT services prior to administering infant massage to discuss your baby's individual needs. This will help me assess what accommodations might need to be considered prior to beginning the course.
Can I use baby lotion instead of cold pressed oils?
No, it is recommended to use cold pressed oil that doesn't have any chemicals or products that could harm your baby if they put their hand or foot in the mouth after a massage. Examples are (fractionated coconut oil, safflower oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil). It is also important to consider if your baby or you have any allergies choose based on that.
Do you have suggestions for working with multiples (twins, triplets, etc.)?
Yes, set realistic expectations that there may be times when one twin is not as accepting of the massage as the other and sometimes it works perfectly. Creating a routine where your babies know what to expect (i.g. After a bath, once a week, in the morning, etc.) Alternate who gets the massaged first. Have a bath toy and a warm towel to wrap the one waiting up in. Give yourself grace if it takes a few or 5 times to get the strokes and routine with more than one baby.
How do I become a certified infant massage educator (CEIM)?
Go to www.infantmassageusa.org and look for courses being offered in your area via email upon completion of your course.
Do you have any suggestions for how to do infant massage on drug dependent infants?
Yes. This is a topic that will need to be discussed during a 1:1 session as the type of drug can make a difference.
Will it hurt?
Hurt no but if your baby has sore gums, colic, growing pains or something else they might experience a short period of discomfort prior to relaxing just as you would in a massage where you had a tight muscle.
How long will the massage take?
As you grow confident you will find you can get the entire massage done in about 15 minutes.
